When a customer comes to us with a clear vision of their dream boat, there’s nothing better than seeing it all come together.
This Extreme 745 Walk Around is exactly that. Built from the ground up around the owner’s style of fishing and boating, almost every area of this boat has been carefully considered and customised. From the bait station and transom cages to the electronics, electrical system and overall layout, every detail has a purpose.
Powered by twin Yamaha F200XSA2 outboards with Level 4 Helm Master EX, and fitted out with Garmin electronics, SeaKeeper Ride, a Force Kraken electric motor and an extensive shore power system, this 745 is packed with some seriously impressive gear.
Let’s take a closer look at one of the most customised Extreme 745 Walk Arounds we’ve had the pleasure of putting together.
Power to the Max: Twin Yamaha F200XSA2 Outboards
Powering this Extreme 745 Walk Around are twin Yamaha F200XSA2 Pearl White outboards, optioned with Yamaha’s Level 4 Helm Master EX system. If you’re not familiar with Yamaha’s Helm Master EX, you can find out more here. Essentially, the system takes advanced navigation and precision manoeuvring and puts it at the skipper’s fingertips through the press of a button or movement of the joystick.
This build features Level 4, the highest level of the Helm Master EX system, bringing together Digital Throttle, Digital Electric Steering, AutoPilot and Joystick control. This unlocks a range of advanced functionality, including features such as StayPoint and Dock Hold, making everything from holding position offshore to manoeuvring around the marina significantly easier.
Paired with the twin F200XSA2s, it gives the 745 Walk Around a seriously capable and refined power package to match the rest of the build.
Transom, Bait Station and Deck
This customer wanted a custom setup tailored specifically to their style of fishing, and the GCBC and Extreme Boats teams worked together to help bring their dream boat to life.
Starting with the bait station itself, it features two separate tanks divided down the middle, each with its own hinged chopping board lid for easy access. This gives the customer plenty of flexibility depending on the day. Whether that means carrying two different types of live bait, using one tank for bait and the other for dry storage, or configuring the space to suit the type of fishing they’re doing.
Behind the chopping boards is a recessed storage area, along with a dedicated tuna tube on the starboard side. On the port side, a second tube neatly houses a washdown hose, complete with its own dedicated outlet.
The bait station is finished with integrated rod holders, knife holders and handrails, creating a highly functional workspace while keeping everything organised and within easy reach when the action starts.
The transom cages on this build have also been customised to sit higher than standard, with double rungs for added comfort and welded rod holders for extra functionality.
These have proven to be a popular option on our Extreme Boats, particularly for anglers looking to maximise usable deck space and get closer to the action when fishing, without compromising on safety.
Another huge must from this client was the Marlin Door/Dive Door. Extreme fabricates a heavy duty hinging door into the side of the boat that allows anglers to pull in fish or even to use as an entry into the boat when pulled up onto a pontoon.
The client also added the popular fold-out gunnel bench for some extra seating which easily folds back up into the side when not in use.
Cabin & Helm
One of the biggest advantages of the Extreme Walk Around design is the ability to manoeuvre freely around the cabin without sacrificing valuable cabin space. The 745 Walk Around still offers a generously sized cabin with plenty of room for sleeping and storage, while the spacious forward deck provides a great area for fishing or simply lounging in the sun.
For this build, the client opted for a port-side esky opening and storage compartment, along with a custom slide-out drawer designed to house a portable gas cooker. On the starboard side, a freshwater sink provides a convenient area for washing up, with a dedicated compartment below housing the 36V battery bank and other electricals.
Two additional sliding drawers provide even more storage for loose gear, helping keep everything organised and easily accessible while out on the water.
Handrails line the ceiling alongside two roof hatches and sliding windows for fresh air circulation. The client also optioned in a custom upholstered rear peak off the back of the roof for extended shade coverage for those hot sunny Queensland days.
Extreme gives the 745 Walk Around a generously sized dash, providing plenty of space for electronics, engine displays and controls without making the helm feel cluttered.
On this build, the centrepiece is a Garmin GPSMAP 8416xsv 16" chartplotter, which also displays information from the SeaKeeper Ride system through the integrated network. Yamaha’s AutoPilot panel and CL5 gauge sit neatly alongside the Garmin, keeping all of the skipper’s key information and controls within easy reach.
The client also added a wireless phone charger to the dash, providing a convenient place to keep their phone charged while out on the water.
Inside the cabin itself is an electric flushing toilet, optioned in storage hammock, comfortable cushions and a folding access hatch for fresh air. This client upgraded the hatch from the standard perspex style to a heavy duty fabricated design allowing them to walk on it while on the bow. Access to the cabin is also secure with the optional roller door which this client added.
Bow & Roof
As previously mentioned, the front deck of the 745 Walk Around still provides an impressive amount of space for fishing and moving freely around the bow. The customer opted for SeaDek across the topsides and cabin bonnet, providing additional grip underfoot while giving the boat a premium, finished look.
The client also wanted the versatility of an electric motor and chose the Garmin Force Kraken 36V, delivering a massive 100lb of thrust. The Force Kraken integrates seamlessly into the boat’s Garmin network, allowing the skipper to control the electric motor directly through the chartplotter, including functions such as navigating to and following waypoints.
For anchoring, the 745 is equipped with a SavWinch 1500SSS electric drum winch paired with a 10kg stainless steel slider anchor, providing a simple and reliable anchoring setup.
On the roof, it's finished in SeaDek, roof hatches, a solar panel, extra rod holders and a Sionyx night vision camera linked into the Garmin chartplotter.
Electrical
Shore power was a #1 priority for this client, and the GCBC technicians did an outstanding job designing and installing the complete electrical system for this boat.
The system provides the client with a simple, single-plug charging solution. Once connected to shore power, the system charges the crank, house and 36V lithium battery banks, removing the need to connect multiple individual chargers.
Victron battery monitors were also installed, providing an easy way to check the charge and capacity of each battery bank at a glance. Battery status can also be monitored via Bluetooth through the Victron smartphone app, giving the client complete visibility over the system from their phone.
A boat that does it all
Overall, this is a Walk Around that has been incredibly well thought out by our client, who successfully turned their vision into their dream fishing boat. Everything from the placement of the rails and seating to the bait station, electronics and storage has been carefully considered to suit exactly how they plan to use the boat.
The result is an Extreme 745 Walk Around that is just as capable heading offshore for a serious day of fishing as it is cruising with family and friends. With plenty of deck space, protection from the elements, easy access around the entire boat and the performance of twin Yamaha F200s, there really isn't much this setup can't do.
It’s also a great example of what can be achieved when building a boat from the ground up. Rather than simply choosing a boat off the showroom floor, every detail can be tailored around the owner and the way they spend their time on the water.
