Inside This Extreme Boats 605 Centre Console Build

Extreme Capability, Purpose-Built Precision: Inside This Extreme Boats 605 Centre Console Build.

There's an art to designing a centre console without the excess. Each feature should have a purpose. Steve's Extreme 605 is a perfect example of restraint meeting capability. It's engineered for true offshore work, delivers serious fishing performance, and handles everyday operation with ease, all without compromise.

Instead of cramming in every available feature, this build stays purposeful. It offers commanding control, real fishing prowess, and solid reliability. The outcome is a boat that performs confidently whether you're on extended offshore runs, working tight inshore grounds, or exploring the range between.

This is a build we're genuinely excited about. It's one of the finest Extremes we've delivered, and it's a real performer.

Power & Control: Yamaha Performance with Precision Handling

Powering the build is a Yamaha F150XSA2. It's an outboard that's proven itself time and again for the balance between power, fuel efficiency, and long-term reliability. Pair that with Yamaha's Helm Master system at Level 2 (Digital Control + Digital Electric Steering) and you've got a boat that's genuinely easy to control through the entire rev range.

This pairing makes the 605 exceptionally easy to drive while still delivering the punch needed for offshore work, a setup that suits both experienced skippers and those stepping into a high-performance centre console for the first time.

Engineered to Match: GFAB’s Custom Alloy Trailer Solution

Steve has paired his Extreme 605 Centre Console with a GFAB custom alloy tandem trailer, engineered specifically to suit the hull for safe, confident towing and effortless launching. Built from high-grade aluminium, the trailer offers excellent corrosion resistance while remaining lightweight and strong. He has also added the Boatcatch latch for easy retrieval of the vessel on the trailer, a custom fabricated step-up ladder for ease of access to the bow of the boat, and a spare wheel with a brake hub included.

Custom hull support, quality rollers, and a balanced axle setup ensure the boat sits securely and launches smoothly at the ramp. Designed for long-distance towing and regular use, the GFAB trailer provides stability, durability, and peace of mind, making transport and retrieval just as refined and dependable as the boat itself.

Deck Layout & Fishability: Designed to Be Used

One of the standout aspects of this build is how well the deck space has been optimised for fishing. The forward casting deck has been custom-configured with a lift-up lid and gas struts, creating a stable and practical platform for lure casting, sight fishing, or deploying the electric motor. The removable lean-bar option isn't just another rail. When you're locked into a fight with a decent fish or the swell picks up, it gives you something solid to brace against. Keeps you stable on your feet, takes the strain off your legs, and lets you focus on what matters: the rod and the fish. It's one of those features that seems small until you actually need it.

Up front sits a Minn Kota Instinct Quest 72" 36v self-deploying electric motor, mounted cleanly with a dedicated plate and structural reinforcement to keep everything solid and dependable. It's powered by a BLA lithium 36v battery with an onboard charger, so topping up after a long day is as simple as plugging in when you get back home.

What you get is precise boat positioning in current, wind, and shallow water. For modern lure and finesse fishing, that's a genuine advantage. You can hold position exactly where you need to be without burning fuel or counting up hours on the outboard.

Rod holders are positioned throughout the boat, there's a large box-style bait station with storage drawers, twin tuna tubes, and a dedicated bait tank aerator system keeping Steve's live bait in top condition. Add in a deck wash and it's clear this boat is built for anglers spending full days on the water. Everything's designed to work hard and make his job easier when he's focused on fishing.

Helm & Electronics: Technology Where It Matters

The helm centres around twin Garmin GPSMAP 9013xsv chartplotters. They're Garmin's latest generation of premium 4K displays, and they deliver exceptional clarity and processing power. The large touchscreens make navigation, sonar interpretation, and system control straightforward at a glance. You get faster chart redraws, improved networking, and seamless integration with radar and sonar modules. Whether Steve's running offshore or manoeuvring in tight conditions, he's got total situational awareness right there at the helm.

Powering his sonar is the Garmin GT51 and TM265LM, creating the ultimate offshore toolkit. The GT51 provides specialised SideVü/ClearVü for scanning structure and 600W traditional sonar for mid-depths. The TM265LM adds 1kW raw power, using low-frequency CHIRP to hold bottom at 3,000+ feet and medium-frequency for incredible target separation of pelagic gamefish in deep blue water.

Ride, Stability & Offshore Confidence

Extreme Boats are built for solid hull design and a soft ride. This 605 takes that a step further with an added Seakeeper Ride system fitted. It actively manages trim, pitch and roll, helping the boat stay level and composed no matter what the conditions throw at it. That kind of stability makes a real difference when you're out for a full day, especially if the swell picks up.

The result is a noticeably smoother ride, reduced skipper fatigue, and improved efficiency, particularly valuable on longer offshore runs or when conditions change unexpectedly.

Comfort, Finish & Custom Touches

Beyond the fishing setup and performance, Steve's prioritised comfort and finish. Full SeaDek flooring in a teak/black finish runs throughout the deck, including the footrests, transom and gunnel areas. It's grip underfoot, comfort during long days, and a premium look all in one.

Steve has configured the helm seat to have storage drawers built in, there's LED lighting above and below the waterline, and an electric toilet system. Small touches that add up to make the boat genuinely usable. Storage's thoughtful too. There's a custom esky drawer and integrated accessories throughout, so even when you're fully loaded for a day on the water, everything's got a place and the boat stays clean and functional.

Every detail contributes to a boat that feels equally capable of serious fishing and relaxed cruising.

A Balanced, Purpose-Driven Centre Console

Steve's Extreme 605 shows what happens when you build a boat around how you'll actually use it, not just a checklist of options. The power, control, electronics, and comfort all work together. You've got the confidence to run offshore, the agility to fish tight inshore spots, and a boat that's genuinely enjoyable to own and spend time on.

It's a versatile, high-end package that reflects how modern boaters actually use their boats. And that's the thing: thoughtful configuration matters just as much as the hull itself.

We can't wait to see what Steve does with his new 605. Whether he's chasing fish offshore, exploring tight inshore spots, or just spending time on the water with mates, this boat's built to handle it all. All the best out there Steve. Go make some memories.
